Dakota Dunes Golf Links is located about a 15-minute drive south of Saskatoon and is ranked as the best golf course in the province of Saskatchewan and in the Top 100 Golf Courses in Canada. It is owned by the Whitecap Dakota First Nations and located next to their Dakota Dunes Casino. This links-style design was completed in 2004 and built on a relatively flat piece of land with few trees so wind will be a factor when you play. Canadian Architect Graham Cooke and Wayne Carlton incorporated the natural sand dunes terrain and surrounded each hole with native prairie grass. There are five sets of tee blocks ranging from 5,100 up to 7,300 yards and the only water is their reservoir but it does not come into play. When I last played it in 2013, they only had a mobile trailer as the Pro Shop, but I understand they recently built a new clubhouse. Maybe it has matured over the years, but I will be honest and say, except for the downhill par-3 15th hole, this course is uneventful and definitely over-rated in my opinion.
