Daniel Island Club (Beresford Creek)

A new millennium design from Tom Fazio, the Beresford Creek course at the 36-hole Daniel Island Club shares a clubhouse with the more recently constructed Rees Jones-designed Ralston Creek course at the same private club. Opened for play in 2000, the Beresford Creek course predates its younger sibling by six years.

In The American Private Golf Club Guide, author Daniel Wexler writes: “Beresford Creek is relatively long and challenging, but also slightly bland given the cachet Fazio enjoyed at the time its construction. On the front nine, only the 362-yard 5th (a gentle dogleg left routed across a marsh) stirs any major interest.

Things pick up coming home when the routing twice returns waterside. The 448-yard 13th and especially the 410-yard 14th (where the green is tucked close to the hazard) set the stage, but are soon usurped by the 198-yard 17th (played diagonally across a narrow tidal inlet) and 449-yard finisher, which requires a long marsh carry from the back tees.”
