DeBeach

DeBeach Golf Club is located on the northern tip of Geoje Island which is set on the warmer, southeastern corner of South Korea.

Laid out by Song “Tiger” Ho, whose Songho Golf Design firm has fashioned around seventy courses in South Korea, the links-like 7,442-yard DeBeach opened for play in 2011 and it’s one of Song Ho’s finest creations, alongside Wellington Country Club in Icheon.

The founder of the club also owns two other South Korean golf facilities (A-One Country Club in Yangsan, Kyong-nam Province and Adonis Country Club in Pocheon, Kyong-ki Province), so DeBeach was built with previous experience and know how.

With a dozen holes that enjoy ocean views, Song Ho made the best use the seaside opportunity, especially on the par threes, where fickle sea breezes often conspire to thwart golfers.

The 202-yard par three 6th enjoys sweeping ocean views, as does the lovely halfway house, which is preceded by the stunning par four 9th, requiring a pin-point approach to a green that's fronted by an ocean inlet. The 191-yard 13th hole tumbles downhill where accuracy is critical – if you miss the green left it’s likely your ball will visit the sea. #17(213 yards) is also downhill to an infinity peninsula green, which appears to float on the shimmering ocean.
