A semi-private facility that’s open for public play, the course at Deer Valley Golf Club lies within a 475-acre property in the Qu’Appelle Valley, to the northeast of Regina, where holes are laid out alongside an attractive residential development.
Bounded by Wascana Creek to the south of the property, the holes at Deer Valley extend to a total of 6,588 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 72. Arranged as two returning nines, the course brings the creek into play on several occasions, most noticeably at the 4th and 5th on the front nine, then at the 14th and 15th on the back nine.
Water also plays a part in the playing strategy on the final two holes. At the par five 17th, an irrigation lake threatens the drive to the left of the fairway before the creek meanders dangerously close to the right side of the green. The par four 18th then runs alongside the opposite side of the lake as it heads towards the home green.
