Des Iles Borromées

Named after the Borromean Islands situated in Lago Maggiore, Golf Club Des Iles Borromées sits around 500 feet above the sparkling waters of the lake, its fairways offering golfers spectacular views of the Val Grande and Sempione mountains.

The course was designed by Marco Croze, who described the project as a “difficult insertion of a golf course in an area of great natural beauty,” which meant that “the preservation of the environment prevailed over technical and golfing needs”.

There’s absolutely no doubt about the scenic splendor in this particular part of Piedmont, where the holes are routed around a hilly, 180-acre property that lies within an extensive pine and silver birch forest.

Highlights include the 395-metre 3rd, kinking severely left off the tee, and the double doglegged par five 9th. On the back nine, the 375-metre 12th is a tough hole but the best is kept ‘til last at the par three 18th, where the sensational vistas from the elevated tee make it worth paying the green fee.
