Founded in 1931, Djursholms Golfklubb developed its golf facility over time to eventually produce an 18-hole main layout and a 9-hole short course. Canadian Bob Kains renovated the entire operation between 2002 and 2007, upgrading the green complexes on every hole.

Djursholms Golfklubb’s 18-hole course, designed by two club members, was one of the first in the country when it opened in 1931. After significant changes to the routing in connection with the expansion to 27 holes in 1968, the 18-hole course being played today contains only one hole in the same place as in 1931, the par thrree 6th.

A parkland course, most fairways are tree-lined with holes 2-5 and 16-17 having a more open character. The high water table on this part of the course, an ancient lake bed with heavy clay soil, has been a significant challenge for the club over the years and explains the presence of several water hazards on these holes.

Most first-time visitors will also remember crossing the commuter train tracks between holes 5 and 6 and again after hole 11. Alas, there is no longer any station nearby, but from 1931 until 1971 (when the Eddavägen branch line was shut down), it was possible to travel all the way to the club house by train.

Despite its pedigree, the course has a modern touch too, having changed significantly between 2002 and 2007 when Canadian Bob Kains renovated green complexes on every hole then in 2020/21 when Caspar Grauballe was called in to upgrade the whole layout.
