Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
The Dubai Creek & Yacht Club grabbed considerable world-wide attention on opening in 1993 when golf in the Middle East was in its infancy. The club is located minutes from the international airport and calling this "a golfer’s paradise" is not wrong.
Well groomed fairways and greens are a feature and the challenge to par is tough from the tournament tees. The course plays a little easier from the forward tees making it most suitable for all golfers, whether here for a Desert Classic or just some quality holiday golf.
The water featured par three course under floodlights and extensive practice facilities combine to make Dubai Creek a golf venue that will live in the memory for a very long time.
The distinctive clubhouse has already won awards around the world and with the green lush fairways of the course lapping the shore of the creek, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is already characterful.
The following edited extract is from 150 Golf Courses You Need To Visit Before You Die by Stefanie Waldek:
“For a desert golf course, it’s unusual that water plays so prominently in the design. But that’s exactly what happens at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. The eponymous creek affects four holes – including the 6th, where golfers must tee off from a platform on the water, while artificial lakes add to the difficulty of other holes.
The views from the course are pretty spectacular, no matter where you stand, as you look out at the water, the city’s skyscrapers, and the sail-shaped clubhouse which acknowledges the connection to the creek.”
