I was lucky enough to play this course for £20 through an agreement with the 1895 club. I would like to stress that this during the summer season in Edinburgh this provides excellent value for money. The course itself was very easy to book with a call to the secretary in the morning.
The course itself in my opinion is not particularly exciting. It is not particularly difficult and the bunkers are quite forgiving. The burn that winds through the course can provide a bit of bother. However, mid to high handicappers will not need to pack 15 lake balls just in case. In terms of standout holes to me, aside form the beauty of the hedgerows and temple, is the par 5 8th requiring 3 solid hits to the green and a chance to unleash a full powered 3 wood. I have to agree with other reviewers that the course certainly does improve as you go round.
The club house definitely meets the mark and is very welcoming.
