The course appeared in The Rolex World’s Top 1000 Golf Courses with the following edited narrative extract:
“Eagle Point is not well known, even amongst Japanese golfers. The club has remained out of the public eye and has yet to host any big tournaments to measure its worth. It was the creation of Taizo Kawata, writer, broadcaster and international referee. He had good ground to work with, plenty of trees, undulating fairways and watercourses from which to make strategic and attractive hazards.
One of the best trends on new courses in Japan is a sensible gap between the ‘tiger’ tees and the normal men’s tees; here again there is almost a thousand yards difference in the overall length of the course, reflecting the gulf between the very best and the rest.”
Visiting golfers may be introduced by a member on weekdays but must play with a member at weekends. The club is also closed on Mondays.
