Eastlake
Eastlake Golf Club is one of Sydney's layouts that aren't well-known located within the shadow of three highly rated sandybelt courses. Set on two narrow strip of sand, Eastlake has recently polished its golf course and is getting ready to become an NSW golfing powerhouse to be considered.
The club was established in 1930, when nine holes were put into play. The following year the course was upgraded to an 18-hole layout running. Today, the course measures more than 5,800m starting from back tees. It can be played to a par 72 (37 for the front nine, and 35 for the back nine).
The first hole in the par three course is not played until the 9th, a 174-metre hole ("Wee Burn"). Holes 5-13 are located on a separate land that is accessible by the bridge that runs over the main highway.
The highlights of Eastlake include the doglegging par eighteenth ("Devil's Elbow") that plays across an extensive area of wasteland before an offset green. Then there's fifteenth par 5 (Hooker's The Horror") which narrows dramatically as the fairway reaches the heavily sand-guarded green.
