Last round of the 4 days and 126 holes Tour. We were supposed to have lunch and play but found an earlier tee time so after a coffee and a bite straight to the 1st tee. Playing 7000yds, Course Rating 74.4 and slope of 138 was quite demanding given the physical effort we went in these 4 days. But it was a serious challenge and fun as well. The course is laid by the front 9 of the Pink and has similar topography, being the back 9 at Pink the only loop with some serious slopes and level changes. I know the Pink is better ranked but I found this Yellow quite good and close to it, maybe saying I liked it a little bit more. It is just personal feel and many may not agree, just personal taste.
One huge difference from the Pink is this one went through a huge bunker “reconsideration” process and there are way less bunkers, maybe just the necessary and then let the terrain, some rough and green slopes do the challenge. Greens are very generous in size and speed is not slow at all so not only the downhill putts but the mid to long range ones are very difficult to judge. And playing this distance and many times hitting mid and long irons to the greens left me several 30+ feet putts where just getting it close was the expectation.
Another feature similar to Pink is in my thoughts the par 3s and the par 5 are the best feature of the course: the first ones because of the variety on length and green sizes, the par 5s because even with good drives in 3 of the 4 of them it was very tough to get in two. And then that makes this a real 72 par for golfers playing the proper set of tees and this feels like it is a real challenge for your skill level. Of course disappointing not getting birdies or home in 2 there but feel that this is exactly what makes the par 5s excellent … 16th I missed the tee shot but even if you hit fairway the second is not only narrow to go for it but needs concentration to lay up properly, either side miss will be a bogey.
If I have to highlight something is the set of par 3s first:

The Yellow Course can be combined with the 9 holes from Valles Golf to make the Green Course at El Prat. Last week after the disappointment of not getting into the International Spanish Senior I had to occupy my time and made the walk of these 9 holes I had not played before to complete all holes at El Prat and honestly I found them quite good in a very windy morning:

1st a short 4 with a tricky green and some crossbunkers directing your tee shot.

2nd a very good short 3 with a small sloped green and a roll off to the right.

3rd a par 5 with a false front on the green and a crossbunker 50yds that will make you think the second shot.

4th another 5 reachable and again with 2 fairway bunkers who really come into play.

5th a VERY good 3, bigger green and a penalty area on the right. Demanding shot even downwind.

6th my other favorite, a bunkerless 350yds par 4 with a very intelligent green.

7th the last 3 with a big bunker left and a big green as well, one of the nicest framed holes in this loop.

8th a reachable 4 if not into the very strong wind we had, well placed bunkers and another small demanding green.

9th mid length 4 with a crossbunker right that strongly directs your strategy.

I really liked it and feel it is well worth a play.

Driving the ball on this course I wouldn’t say is difficult as not so many trees like on the Pink but rough yes comes into play. When little to no chances of lost balls off the tee it is more fun even when there is always one side of the fairway which will allow better chances on the approaches.
As a 36 holes facility (really 45 with the green loop), this offers a good combination of challenge and fun. Maybe going to shorter tees will allow better scores, but don’t feel afraid of the scorecard, the length is not an impossible challenge and very playable.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
