The original 9-hole course at Starmoen was used by Hedmark Golfklubb, which was formed through the merger of Høsbjør Golfklubb and Elverum Golfklubb. In 1993, two years after the course was expanded to 18 holes, the old club folded and Elverum took control of the golf operation.

Elverum

Hedmark Golfklubb was created by the merger between Hosbjor Golfklubb and Elverum Golfklubb in the latter half of 1983. Construction began four years later, and it was completed to play in the fall of 1988.

The clubhouse and the initial layout of 9 holes were officially opened in spring of 1990. By September of the next year the course was extended to 18 holes.

Elverum Golfklubb was then re-established in 1993 following the demise of Hedmark Golfklubb.

The course is now extended up to 6,315m at the back of the tees. There are holes that are laid out in two back nines. Both end with a test par five The 9th dogleg is 510 metres left from tee-to-green and the 18th doglegs to the right, heading towards a water-protected green that is home.

Other holes worth mentioning include the shortest par threes at 150 metres on the 8th hole, where the green is surrounded by four bunkers that loom over the green The par four, which is a short one 12th that narrows dramatically as the fairway swoops left-to-right towards the green. finally, the final hole, a par three, at 17th, with the green being protected by a pond in the right of the offset putting surface.
