Enmore Park
Located nine miles north of Taunton, on the edge of the Quantock Hills, the course at Enmore Park Golf Club is a 1972 Fred W. Hawtree design. The club was formed in 1906 at nearby Cannington before moving to its current site in 1932, where a 9-hole layout was brought into play. Forty years later, additional land was purchased to allow an expansion to 18 holes.
Today, the course extends to 6,453 yards from the back tees and par is set at 71. A brook and several connecting ponds come into play on five of the holes. Tree-lined fairways are laid out on a compact 100-acre property, with holes on the back nine contained within a front nine that’s routed around the perimeter of the property.
Feature holes include the 491-yard 6th, the only par five on the outward half; the long uphill 10th (rated stroke index 1) where birdies are very hard to come by; and the final short hole on the scorecard at the 185-yard 15th, with water lying in wait to the front and right of the green for those who fail to reach the putting surface with their tee shot.
In 2011, the club co-hosted the Boys Amateur Championship with Burnham & Berrow, which Devon's Harrison Greenberry won.
