Escondido Golf Club

Escondido Golf & Lake Club is situated in Horseshoe Bay, on the southern shores of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Operated as a high-end private facility within a residential community, the course is a Tom Fazio design that first opened for play in 2006.

Fairways are laid out on either side of Pecan Creek. The front nine is laid out on more open ground to the north of the creek, with elements of housing lined around the periphery of the property, while the back nine holes are routed in a clockwise direction around more intrusive accommodation areas.

Highlight holes include the shortest par four on the outward half, the 356-yard 8th (where the green is hidden from view on the tee, only to be revealed as you crest a small rise in the fairway) and the 595-yard closing hole, where the creek runs along the left of the fairway all the way to the home green.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
