Escorpion (Neuvos & Lagos)

Founded in 1969, Club de Golf Escorpion moved to its current location six years later, when Ron Kirby laid out the Azul course, comprising the Masía and Lagos nines. It wasn’t long before prestigious national tournaments were being held here: First the Spanish Open, won by Irishman Eddie Polland, in 1980, followed four years later by the Spanish Amateur Championships.

Local architect Alfonso Vidaor added another circuit (the Neuvo nine) to the layout at the start of the new millennium, followed shortly after by a par three development course in 2005 so, with such an array of impressive facilities, the club has a good reputation for promoting the game (especially with young players) in the northern suburbs of Valencia.

The tree-lined Nuevos and Lagos nines stretch out across gently undulating terrain, measuring a total of 6,048 metres from the back tees. The round starts and ends with a testing par five and in between these strong 3-shotters there are a number of memorable holes, most notably the short par four 2nd on the Nuevos and the par three 5th on the Lagos.
