The following edited extract is from the Peugeot Golf Guide:
“Estérel is a tourist resort in a setting of pine forest and pretty hilly countryside. Robert Trent Jones has laid out what is technically a very interesting course with a number of varied and often spectacular hazards. Astute club selection, careful thought over each shot and ball control are key…
Dozens of bunkers and a few water hazards call for deliberate strategy as penalties may come thick and fast, all the more so in that excessive contouring on some greens leaves much to chance and remains the Achilles heel of this course… worth knowing despite the infringing presence of condos lining the fairways.”
