Eye of Africa
The 18-hole course at Eye of Africa Golf Club is situated within a huge residential estate that was developed through Australian developers Medallist of Great White Shark Enterprises and the Macquarie Group. Greg Norman's first Signature golf course located in the African continent, which opened in the summer of 2010.
The course is large and bold, with large, inviting fairways that lead to huge greens with a gentle slope which are fast and firm. A lot of the tees are elevated to allow golfers to be able to see everything in front of them, avoiding any unpleasant surprise from bunkers that are hidden.
The holes, which are 18 in total, are laid out in an out-and-back manner through some hills and due to the size of the layout. With large distances between many of holes. The need for a cart to play the course is required.
It's a spacious experience when playing on an open course as this (where the tees are constructed to allow players to play up to 7,590 yards on an estate that covers over 1,600 acres) therefore it's to wish that construction of a number of residential homes on the property will be completed in a way that is as considerate as it can be to preserve the atmosphere.
It was the South African PGA championship moved to the country for five years of the event in 2016 with Jaco Van Zyl taking his third championship in seven years following his victory over Dean Burmester in a playoff.
