Fairmont Manoir Richelieu (Tadoussac & Richelieu)
The 27 holes of the golf course complex sit around a mile above the Fairmont Manoir Richelieu hotel and the climb along a winding road to the clubhouse offers some stunning long views over the mighty St Lawrence River below.
Englishman Herbert Strong – who had already designed the likes of Engineers in New York and Canterbury in Ohio – constructed the original 18-hole course and US President William H. Taft officially opened the layout in 1925 on one of his regular summer vacations in the Pointe-au-Pic region.
The hotel and the course were extensively renovated at the end of the 1990s when Darrell Huxham extended the golf facility, adding a new 9-hole circuit to the old Tadoussac and Richelieu nines.
The new St Laurent nine is not long and it includes three relatively short par threes plus a par five (at the 3rd hole) that’s reachable in two shots, making it one of the most engaging holes at the resort.
