One of ten golf facilities managed by Lakeland Golf Developments, Falcon Lake lies a 90-minute drive east of Winnipeg in beautiful Whiteshell Provincial Park, where tree-lined fairways occupy around 200 acres of the heavily forested landscape just off the Trans-Canada Highway.
The layout extends to 6,922 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 72, with holes set out as two returning nines. Falcon Creek winds through the centre of the course, presenting itself as a water hazard to be avoided on half the holes.
Highlights here include all three short holes on the front nine (#3, #5 and #9), along with the longest of the par fives on the back nine at the 600-yard 13th. The left doglegged final hole by comparison measures only 488-yards (stroke index 16), offering a reasonable chance of a birdie finish.
Reviews for Falcon Lake
Falcon Lake Golf Course is located about a 75-minute drive east of Winnipeg Manitoba and two hours west of Kelowna Ontario in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. It is the ideal location to stop and play along the TransCanada Highway as you travel across Canada. Opened in 1958, there are no members here, only public play.
In 2017, Lakeland Golf Management Inc. negotiated a 42-year lease with the provincial government. Under Lakeland’s vision they have now built a brand new 5,000 square feet building that truly represents the clubs’ future. The entire facility includes a driving range, 18-hole mini-putt, tennis courts, bocce ball, horseshoes along with a beach and marina making it an ideal oasis for the transient family.
The layout is very mature with heavily tree-lined fairways that are wider than they appear. The conditioning is second to none. Water is evident on 9 holes including a pond on 12. The greens are large and relatively flat. The sand is good to hit out of but not very deep.
The most memorable holes are #5, a 230-yard (white tees) par-3, #13, a 600-yard par-5 and #14, a 435-yard par-4. What is unique here is the back nine is 400 yards longer then the front nine for a par 35/37 layout.
Falcon Lake is an ideal oasis to enjoy a few days to relax and golf.
