Finkbine is a solid public course option in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids area. The course is home to the University of Iowa golf teams and is near the football stadium and campus. The course is slated to be totally remodeled by Scott Hoffman over the next year or more, but Finkbine was always a local favorite of mine and I played here regularly. It is a nice walk with the exception of the jaunt from 13 green to 14 tee. The greens are usually in good condition but don't offer a ton of creativity. They are quick and almost always slope back to front, making each approach shot relatively straightforward. The tee shots at Finkbine offer little strategy in most cases. Overall, this is a good value due to it's solid conditions, clubhouse and restaurant, pleasant walk and routing. This course is good for what it is.
