Firefly Golf Club represents Andrew Green's first original design, after a career defined by restoring icons such as East Lake Golf Club, Oak Hill Country Club, and Interlachen Country Club. Set across 700 acres of rolling Tennessee farmland in Maury County, the course translates Green's deep study of Golden Age design principles into an entirely new layout with no historical constraints.
Firefly Golf Club is a development by Storied Development — the private club operator behind The Grove in College Grove, Tennessee, Boot Ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas, and Talisker Club in Park City, Utah — in partnership with Wheelock Street Capital. The project broke ground in December 2024 on a 700-acre site in Spring Hill, Maury County, approximately 30 miles south of Nashville.
Andrew Green was appointed as golf course architect, with construction beginning in early 2025. Green, whose restoration portfolio spans Inverness Club, Congressional Country Club, Scioto Country Club, and Oak Hill, among others, approached Firefly as his first opportunity to design on an unrestricted canvas. Shapers Scott Laughlin and Hawk Shaw lead on-site construction, with August Rocco serving as Director of Golf Maintenance.
The 18-hole championship course is scheduled to open for member play in autumn 2026. A nine-hole short course, also designed by Green, is planned to open earlier that summer. Supporting facilities, including the Golf Shop, Fieldhouse, and Outpost, are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Firefly's 18-hole championship course is a par-72 layout stretching to approximately 7,200 yards from the back tees, routed across rolling Maury County farmland in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
Green has described the site as offering complete creative freedom — a marked contrast to the heritage-preservation constraints that define his restoration work. A caddie programme is planned from the opening, and the layout is designed as a walking course.
The accompanying nine-hole short course adds a further dimension to the golf offering, designed to accommodate members and families seeking a shorter format. Practice facilities will include a driving range and short game practice greens.
Firefly Golf Club arrives at a notable moment for golf development in Middle Tennessee. Andrew Green's first original course design — on 700 acres of Maury County farmland, 30 miles south of Nashville — offers a rare opportunity to experience a new layout conceived entirely outside the constraints of historical restoration work. With the championship course scheduled to open in autumn 2026, Firefly represents one of the more anticipated club openings in the American South.

Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
