Five Lakes
The Lakes course at the Potters Resorts Five Lakes Golf Club is an Neil Coles and David Williams co-production that was launched in the 1990s, beginning with a telecast of a Nick Faldo Texas Scramble match featuring Nigel Mansell, Ian Botham and Daley Thompson All of them were famous sports stars at the time.
The golf course at this site dates back to Manifold Golf Club opened in 1974 and was home to it's Links course. The club was later purchased and renamed Quietwaters Golf Club. The new owners constructed their own Lakes course, along with an hotel and other sporting facilities. The company was later acquired by A.B. Hotels, and the Lakes course was opened in.
The Links and Lakes Golf Clubs were operated independently at first but they merged in 2000 and became Five Lakes Golf Club. The hotel was bought from Potters Resorts in 2021 and it was reopened in the year following after extensive improvements were made that included a new bar for golfers, a changing rooms and a pro shop for visitors and members.
Links course was later converted to a par three. Links course was then transformed into a par 3 course, with the Lakes still operating as the main layout of 18 holes in Five Lakes. The course spans 6,267 yards starting from its tip, and plays at a par of 72. The holes are laid out as two return nines. In keeping with the course's name, it includes large water hazards in play on half of the holes.
