Forest Dunes (Weiskopf)

Like all golf resorts in the USA created before Bandon Dunes, Forest Dunes is a "Championship" golf course.

I played all three 18 hole courses at Forest Dunes resort on the same trip, and this course was by far my least favorite.

Need to revisit, as extenuating circumstances made my journey to Roscommon less than ideal.

The course itself does not blow you away by any means, but the entire facility does - perfect place for a golf trip.

A beautiful golf course in a remote Northern Michigan forest.

What a difference a trip across the parking lot makes.

I noticed an earlier comment suggesting that the fairways were “as spongy as Irish golf” — a reflection, perhaps, of a breadwinner who has never actually done the dishes at home, so as to experience the squishy nature of a sponge.

Located in a very remote part of northern Michigan completely void of real estate, Forest Dunes is expertly routed through a forested landscape complete with naturally occurring glacial sand deposits that come in to play throughout your round.

Forest dunes is an absolutely beautiful, strategic, cohesive experience in woodlands, lakes, and native dunes.

As good as it gets in Michigan, challenging but not unplayable.
