Furesø Golf Club was founded in 1975 and the course was laid out on land donated by the council. It originally started out in life as a par three course, expanded gradually to a 9-hole course and by 1989 the club had a full 18-hole layout. Today, Furesø is a 27-hole facility, parkland in style, with many small ponds coming into play. It is divided into three 9-hole loops with the original 18-hole championship course comprising of the Farum and Hestkøbsgård nines. Fureso is a solid member’s golf club where membership is limited to local district residents but despite that restriction, potential members wait for years before being offered club membership. In June 2015, coinciding with the club's 40th birthday, the new Furesø course opened for play following extensive renovations by Mackenzie and Ebert. Every green surround and every one of the bunkers were rebuilt - it's therefore no coincidence that Furesø moved up ten positions in our 2016 Danish rankings. |
