Geijsteren
The first 9 hole course of Geijsteren Golf and Country Club was the result of a Donald Steel and Frank Pennink course which made its debut on the golf course in 1974. As new land was made available for the course, the course was expanded in two phases to 18 holes.
Four holes were added in 1983. They were followed by another "five lakes" after the course's extension was completed two years later. In more recent times, Michiel van der Vaart of Jol Golf Design has been engaged in renovation work here.
Through woodlands, the holes in Geijsteren are beautifully set by mature trees that line both sides of the playing corridors. the fairway definition is valid until the 14th hole, when hazards from water create the most difficult problem for the rest of the round.
The course played a major part in the evolution for professional golfing in the Netherlands and hosted one of the very first match-play championships for national teams in the year 1988 since all tournaments held in the country were played as stroke-play events prior to the time.
