Golf Club de Genève

Situated in the southwest corner of Switzerland where Lake Geneva flows into the Rhône River, Geneva is rated as one of the cities with the highest quality of living in the world. Just outside this modern metropolis, close to the French border, lies the beautiful parkland course of the Golf Club de Genève.

One of a select few European courses designed by Robert Trent Jones outside his main golfing centres of expertise in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France, the Geneva course was opened in 1972.

It enjoys stunning panoramic views across Lake Geneva and features many tree-lined, dog legged fairways, generously proportioned greens (especially the shared putting surface at the 9th and 18th holes) and water hazards at several holes – the best of these is the 176-yard, par three 17th hole where many a good round has come to grief.

The 10th biennial world amateur team championship for women – when golfers compete for the Espirito Santo Trophy – was held here in 1992 and the United States ladies won the event for the eighth time.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
