Genoa Lakes (Lakes)

The journey at the Genoa Lakes (Lakes) Course opens up with a fairly conventional “gentle handshake," and then you’re on your own from there. The course advertises water hazards on 14 holes, including those that run alongside or across the Carson River, which flows through the property.

After the “easy” start, you’ll be right in the teeth of the title “Lakes,” with a par five that narrows considerably upon your final approach, pinched by a lake on the left, while No. 3 — the toughest hole by stroke index — features a similar danger along the entirety of its 477 yards.

If the river becomes a bitter view for your wayward drives, take consideration of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the West instead. The course was more than equipped to host the U.S. Open qualifier, topping out at nearly 7,400 yards.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
