The course at Golf Girona is a Fred Hawtree design that’s situated less than ten kilometres from Girona – close to the city but far enough away in the foothills of the Las Gavarres mountains to feel isolated from urban living.
The course lies conveniently close to the interchange of the AP-7 highway and the C-66, with tree-lined holes occupying a 120-acre property which is bounded by four small residential clusters.
Stretching to just over 6,000 metres from the back markers, the layout plays to a par of 72 (37 out then 35 in) and holes are arranged as two returning nines, each of which conclude with a par five.
Highlights include the long, uphill par four 6th (played to a 2-tiered green); the uphill, right doglegging par four 14th (rated stroke index 1); and the shortest par five on the card at the downhill 18th, featuring a highly contoured home green.
