The original course at Gold Mountain Golf Club opened in 1971. 25 years later, it was totally eclipsed by John Harbottle III’s Olympic layout, where the US Junior Amateur Championships were held in 2011.

Gold Mountain Golf Club (Olympic)

Owned and operated by the City of Bremerton in Kitsap County, the 36-hole golf facility at Gold Mountain Golf Club has been in operation since 1971, when the Ken Tyson-designed Cascade course first opened its doors to the golfing public.

Twenty-five years later, John Harbottle III’s Olympic layout debuted and although this tree-lined track is a little hillier than its older sibling it’s still an eminently walkable course which has been well received by golfers of all abilities since it opened for play.

With tees, fairways and greens carpeted in annual bluegrass, the course gained national recognition early in the new millennium by hosting both the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in 2006 and the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 2011.

Feature holes include the short par four 4th and the long par five 9th, where water to the right of both greens threatens approach shots. On the back nine, the 188-yard 16th plays across a small lake to the green and the short par four 18th offers a genuine birdie chance at the end of the round.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
