Goodwood is probably more well known for motor sport and horse racing although it has two decent golf courses onsite The Downs and The Park. The Downs is a championship standard layout whilst The Park is a little less demanding. The Downs course is rather hilly but the views are spectacular and the architect has done a decent job with the routing considering the topography, although there are some long walks between greens and tees. The bunkers which have recently been renovated now frame the holes alongside providing a strategic challenge to the golfer. It has a number of good holes such as 6 a short par 4 from an elevated tee…12 and 13 a par 3 and par 4 respectively are also very good. It does have a couple of weak holes…I am not a fan of the 2nd although I can see why others like it and I agree with a previous reviewer that 14 and 15 are rather uninspiring. One thing you will remember about Goodwood is the experience from the staff, the facilities or the unusual convertible buggies it a nice place to spend a day.
