Grantown on Spey Golf Club

Fun course and welcoming club for visitors and dogs alike (provided well behaved and kept on a lead).

The course has 3 distinctly separate 6 hole stretches.

Went up to have a look at Grantown after it recently made its way into the most recent Scottish top 100 list.

Real different types of holes here, first 6 rather bland on top in a closed area, next 6 the best in the woods and heathland feel with trees the last 6 more open but undulating.

Set in the heart of the exceptional Cairgorm National Park this super friendly club established in 1890, provides an amazing golfing experience.

The 5,710-yard course, which owes its well draining nature to its gravel base, is easily split into three distinct sections.

Grantown is definitely worth a game whilst enjoying the glory of the Highlands, the quiet town has a restrained charm like the golf course - a few highlights, but on the whole just an enjoyable relaxing short stay in a lovely place.

Played in the middle of August, 34 years after my last visit.

I’ll bet a few eyebrows (other than mine) were raised in 2011 when one of the golf magazines included this course in its inaugural Top 100 chart of Scottish courses.
