I played this course 7 years ago and it touched my heart. I recently returned to see if it was as good as I remembered.

Granville was better than I remembered. This course is a wild links course with loads of space in between holes but no long walks. Some greens are shrouded with slopes that feed towards the hole, some are raised with sharp run off areas and bunkers aplenty. There are a few raised tee boxes to deep fairways and some cracking par 3's that demand precision. The rough is a lottery. Sometimes you find your ball on top of the rough and it's easy to play, other times the maram grass swallows your ball whole.

The greens were well kept with lots of slopes and few if any flat putts. Tricky to read at times but such fun.

When the wind is up as with most links courses it's a stern test but Granville is always enthralling.

The front of house staff are super helpful and friendly.

I can't wait to return for another go as this is my favourite course in France that I've played
