Green Gables

One of the first public courses to open for play on Prince Edward Island in the late 1930s, Green Gables Golf Club was built as a visitor attraction for the Prince Edward Island National Park, with Robbie Robinson overseeing the construction of Stanley Thompson’s 18-hole design.

Ad-hoc upgrades and modifications were made to the layout during the 1980s but almost another thirty years went by before Thomas McBroom was called in to do a proper job of restoring the old master’s layout to its former glory.

This resulted in McBroom a) installing new tees to stretch the length by over 550 yards to almost 7,000 yards from the back tees, b) clearing superfluous trees on many holes to enhance the ocean views, and c) reinstating the fairway and greenside bunkers to the original Thompson specifications.
