The club's origins trace back to 1892, when it was established as a traditional fox hunting venue in the rolling countryside northwest of Baltimore. Golf at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club began on Independence Day, 4th July 1914, when a nine-hole course designed by Tom Bendelow opened on the east side of Garrison Forest Road.
