Greystone (Legacy)

Attractively set in deciduous woodland, the Rees Jones-designed Legacy course at Greystone Golf & Country Club opened in 2000, nine years after the Founders course. It’s an exacting test and an engaging one too, especially on the outward half which features a troublesome creek.

The Founders course gets attention because this Bob Cupp-designed layout has been hosting events on the men’s senior professional tour since the 1990s and it currently stages The Tradition tournament on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, which Bernhard Langer won in 2016 and 2017.

“The newer Legacy course plays out of a separate clubhouse to the northeast, and occupies some attractively wooded terrain,” writes Daniel Wexler in The American Private Golf Club Guide. “With a rating of 74.7 [and slope rating of 146] it is obviously a demanding test, with Rees Jones’s large-scale bunkering popping up throughout.”
