Greystone Golf Club

One of the four original courses in the ClubLink portfolio, Greystone is one of Doug Carrick’s earliest designs, dating back to 1991. Situated adjacent to the environmentally sensitive Niagara Escarpment in Milton, this 18-hole layout is routed across a rugged landscape, leading to a number of substantial changes in elevation between the 1st and 18th hole on this tree-lined layout.

The course begins and ends with short par five holes, allowing golfers to start and end their round with an easy par or even a birdie. Highlights in between the opening and closing holes include the left doglegged short par four 8th, the even shorter par four 15th (which measures a mere 301 yards from the back markers) and the right doglegged 16th, which is played from a severely elevated tee position.

Doug Carrick commented as follows:

“The undulating terrain, magnificent tree specimens, the dramatic elevation changes, the panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and surrounding countryside gave us a lot of natural features to build on. Using the long natural flowing lines of the escarpment as our inspiration, we developed a subtle routing that nestled gently into the rolling terrain.

In keeping with the mature setting, we went with a classical design, featuring medium-sized greens, steep-faced bunkers and several wetland hazards. As members and their guests will tell you, the escarpment creates captivating optical illusions on many of the putting surfaces.”
