Gunter's Landing

Designed by Jimmy Kennamer and opened for play in 1991, the 18-hole layout at Gunter’s Landing lies on the shores of Guntersville Lake where fairways have been carved from a densely forested landscape.

Gunter’s Landing is named after John Gunter, a white settler who located salt deposits on the southernmost bend of the Tennessee River and began to trade with the nearby Cherokee tribe. He married a Cherokee woman and they opened a store called Gunter’s Landing which led to the local town adopting this name in 1784.

Feature holes include the two par threes on the front nine, with water coming into play on both the 193-yard 3rd and the 168-yard 5th. On the back nine, the 352-yard 17th appears rather benign because of a stroke index rating of 17 but this hole doglegs markedly towards the green, making it a lot more difficult than the score card might suggest.
