Hamburg Wendlohe (A&B)

Founded in 1964, Golf Club Hamburg Wendlohe had a 9-hole course in operation six years after its formation. By 1973 the “A” and “B” nines were in play, with an additional 9-hole “C” circuit introduced in the late 1980s.

The club hosted two editions of the Audi Open on the European Challenge Tour in 1992/3 then the Günther Hamburg Classic on the same men’s professional circuit was held here in 2000 so there’s no doubting Hamburg Wendlohe’s capability of staging big time events.

Located close to Hamburg airport, the club has been a member of the prestigious Leading Courses of Germany network since 2009. Today, the A&B configuration extends to 5,949 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72 (36 out then 36 in).

Highlight holes include the par five 3rd (rated stroke index 1) and the shortest of the par threes at the 113-metre 7th. On the back nine, there’s a reasonable chance of bagging a late birdie at either the short par four 15th or 18th holes.
