Haviksoord

Occupying a property that was once the site of an aircraft factory, the original nine holes at Haviksoord Golf Club opened for play in 1976, with another nine following thirty years later. The property was heathland in character before it was converted to woodland in the 1930s and a couple of large lakes are man-made, the result of excavation for the nearby A2 highway in the early 1970s.

Today, the course extends to just under 6,100 metres from the back markers, playing to a par of 72, with holes laid out as two returning nines. Unusually, a round begins with two par fives, each of which doglegs slightly right from tee to green. Water only comes into play at a couple of holes: on the par five 12th and par four 18th.

Highlight holes include the shortest of the par threes at the 120-metre 7th (with a bunker to the front right of the green and another two sand hazards behind the putting surface) and the longest of the par fives at the 510-metre 12th, where a lovely lake eats into the fairway hallway between the tee and the green.
