Hecla

Hecla Golf Course is just one of a number of public and resort layouts operated by Lakeland Golf Management in the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan and it’s situated close to a three-hour drive to the north of Winnipeg, within Hecla Provincial Park.

Measuring a not inconsiderable distance of 6,696 yards from the back markers, the 18-hole layout at Hecla occupies a large portion of a beautiful wooded peninsula which juts out into Lake Winnipeg, allowing golfers to enjoy an absolutely stunning setting for their game.

Holes are arranged as two returning nines, with water coming into play at several holes; most notably at the par three 3rd, where a pond lies to the left of the green, and the par three 11th, with another pond placed right in front of the green to provide even greater intimidation on the tee.

The fairways for holes 12 to 14 run along the shoreline so any shots played too far left here will end up in the lake. The routing then turns inland but there’s time for one more aquatic challenge at the par four 17th, where an elongated water hazard down the right side of the fairway is a potential card wrecker near the end of the round.
