Henbury
Henbury Golf Club was established in 1891 on Coombe Hill, with a 9-hole course that was laid on a 90-acre parcel of land that was close to Blaise Castle. The layout was then expanded to 18 holes and it's the course that is still playing even though the order of holes has changed over through the time.
Additional land was purchased in the early 1950s which allowed the construction of the current 3rd and 4th holes. The 15th hole was also changed into a par five hole in 1973 after a deep quarry was re-filled and allowed that hole to be widened.
The course was further improved through in the latter part of the 1990s in the late 1990s, with four new greens coming into play. This was followed by the creation of the distinctive 7th hole, a par 3, that features an impressive drop shot over the water of Trym.
Other holes worth mentioning are the first (and the shortest) one of par threes at 4th which measures 133 yards and the left-veering par five 5th, the long par five 15th, and the long par four final hole, where the incoming shot is played downhill, leading to an elegantly contoured home green.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
