Heritage (La Réserve Golf Links)

Nineteen years after its highly acclaimed Château course made its debut, Heritage Golf Club unveiled another Peter Matkovich-designed masterpiece, La Réserve Golf Links, at the end of 2023, just ahead of this brand new layout staging the 7th edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Heritage previously held the event in 2015, 2017 and 2019 on Le Château so hosting such an important professional tournament comes as second nature to all concerned at the club on the renowned Bel Ombre estate, which is now the only 45-hole golf destination in the Indian Ocean.

Co-designer Louis Oosthuizen said of La Réserve Golf Links: “It’s a challenging course and not for the faint-hearted. We’ve worked with the land to create a strategic, undulating course that plays in the traditional links style, with running fairways, pot bunkers and long grasses.”

Highlights here include the par four 3rd, played to a green set on a ridge, where players enjoy a 360-degree view of the sea, forest, mountains, and southern lagoon. On the back nine, the par three 11th is another notable hole, featuring a rather eye-catching Biarritz-style green.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
