I played Hermitage last summer and was very impressed with this gorgeous tree lined parkland course. It’s not long, nor is it tough, it’s simply a solid layout that asks questions all along the way. The front nine is set on higher ground and then you come to no 10, the signature hole, a stunning downhill par 3 that takes you down to the River Liffey before the rest of the back nine starts to snake back up to the clubhouse. The course is well bunkered (especially the greens), it’s well maintained and it even has the odd blind shot to upset some golfers (I personally have no problem with the occasional blind shot). They even have a spare par 3 which replaces the signature hole with another downhiller. I’d recommend the course to anyone who fancies a change from the links while in Dublin.
