Located less than an hour’s drive north of Melbourne city centre, the layout extends to 6,500 metres from the tips, playing to a par of 73 (out in 36 then back in 37), with tree-lined holes arranged as two returning nines, each of which concludes with a water-laden par three next to the clubhouse – and there are also substantial aquatic hazards to negotiate from the par four 13th to the par five 15th.
Highlight holes include the par four 6th (rated stroke index 2, with a couple of ponds in play off the tee); the shortest par three on the card at the 118-metre 9th (demanding an all-carry tee shot over water to the green); the left doglegging 449-metre 12th (the shortest of the five par fives): and the spectacular 166-metre 18th which pays to an island green that’s accessed via a pontoon bridge.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
