This edited excerpt is derived directly from The Golfers Guide to Wales by John Pinner:

"Sharing the same ethos as Wrexham the honor of being among some of the longest-running clubs located in the county bordering Flintshire, Holywell lies on the natural moorland as well as linksland, parkland and moorland terrain and offers a challenging challenge for the golfer on holiday with a minimum of climbs to go with the numerous dangers this course throws at the inexperienced or novice golfer.

If you like that the courses you play provide more challenges that just the natural rough or sand traps The Holywell layout is sure to be the perfect choice for you. The hazards present here will get your heart to a thumping halt with holes set in the quarries made of rock and some with water in play."
