Hook (Forest)

Hooks Golfklubb was founded in 1941 but it took another forty-three years until its Parks course was finally completed in 1984. Another eight years would pass before the club’s second 18-hole layout, the Forest course, was unveiled. Design credit for this course goes to the prolific local architect Jan Sederholm.

Arranged as two returning nines, the Forest course extends to 5,990 metres, starting and finishing with a par five hole. Water hazards (in the form of small ponds) come into play at several holes, particularly on the back nine.

Highlight holes include the par four 6th (where a centreline bunker in the fairway contributes to a stroke index 1 rating) and the 158-metre 7th, where a pond protects the right side of the green.

On the slightly shorter back nine, the par three 16th features water to the left of the green and this hole is followed by a tough, right doglegging par four with yet another aquatic obstacle to the front right of an offset putting surface.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
