Hornbæk

Hornbæk Golfklub was formed in 1989 but problems arose trying to find suitable land for the golf course so members initially rented the Passebæk Golf Course (which had just been vacated by Gilleleje Golf Club) and the club became the first registered with the Danish Golf Union as a club without its own course.

Almost ten years passed before a 9-hole course was laid out on 80 acres of land, with another 60 acres available to expand the layout if the initial track proved to be popular enough. Within years of opening, the course was extended to eighteen holes at the beginning of the new millennium.

Today, the course extends to 6,082 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, with holes arranged in an out-and-back fashion, starting with a par five and finishing with a par five.

Highlight holes include the strong par four 7th (which has two large bunkers protecting the front of the green) and the shortest of the four par threes at the 111-metre 17th, which plays across water to a peninsula green on the side of a lovely lake.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
