Golf was first played here as far back as 1928, with Kevin Hartley making alterations during the mid-1980s.
Sadly, like many clubs in the modern era, Howlong doesn’t appear to pay any attention to its golfing heritage – that’s if the lack of historical info on its website is anything to go by.
Par is set at 70 (34 out then 36 in) and tight, tree-lined holes are arranged as two returning nines, with ponds coming into play next to the green at the 6th, 9th and 18th holes.
Non-aquatic highlights include the left doglegging par four 7th; the equally tough par four 10th; and the longest of the par three holes at the 13th.
