Jack Nicklaus reworked the old Hidden Lakes golf course amongst the waterways of the Pack River, creating the new 18-hole layout at the Idaho Club in 2008. It’s a testing layout with water featuring on all but two of the holes.

Idaho Club

The Idaho Club nestles along the shores of Lake Pend Oreille – Idaho’s largest and deepest lake – with the golf course forming the centerpiece of an upmarket residential development.

Once operated as the Hidden Lakes Golf Club, Jack Nicklaus reworked the 18-hole layout in 2008 to bring the meandering waters of the Pack River into play at no fewer than sixteen of the new holes.

Standout holes include the strong 441-yard opening par four, the water-laden par three 7th and the very long par five 9th, which measures all of 629 yards from the back tees. The left doglegged 15th is another highlight hole and it starts the run for home, curving around water from tee to green.

With a slope rating of 148, the course at the Idaho Club is a very difficult track for the average golfer but then there’s always the magnificent background mountain scenery to help compensate those having a hard time on the fairways.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
