Ilfracombe

Situated on the rugged cliffs of the North Devon coast, the course at Ilfracombe Golf Club is said to be where you can see the sea from every tee during your round of golf – and it’s been that way ever since the club was founded above Hele Bay back in 1892.

Today, the course measures a modest 5,796 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 69 (35 out then 34 in), with four par threes on the front nine, three of which are played in a row, from the 2nd to the 4th. There are also old-fashioned crossing fairways at holes 7 and 8 then at 10 and 12.

Highlights include the par five 1st (“Up ‘N Over”) hugging the coastline; the par five 8th (“Out of Sight”) doglegging to the right; the par four 13th (“Safety First”) rated stroke index 1; and the par three 18th (“Sanctuary”) which plays to the home green positioned right in front of the clubhouse.
